Dubai Flooding

UAE Hit by Record-Breaking Rainstorm

Deadly Flooding and Airport Chaos in Dubai

Heavy Thunderstorms Drench Emirate, Causing Widespread Disruption

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was battered by a torrential downpour on Tuesday, unleashing the heaviest rainfall ever recorded in the country. The unrelenting storm dumped more than a year and a half's worth of rain on Dubai in just a matter of hours, causing widespread flooding and chaos.

Major highways were submerged, rendering them impassable. Dubai International Airport (DBX) was particularly hard-hit, with scores of flights delayed or canceled as floodwaters inundated parts of the facility.

Sadly, the storm also claimed a life. A 70-year-old man tragically perished when his vehicle was swept away by floodwaters in Ras Al-Khaimah, according to a police statement.

The relentless rainfall continued its eastward march on Wednesday, impacting other parts of the UAE. The heavy downpours flooded streets, caused power outages, and disrupted transportation networks.

Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and avoid flooded areas. Emergency services are working around the clock to clear roads, assist stranded motorists, and provide assistance to affected communities.
